It’s not often I find myself sympathising with a Tory but I had a chuckle and a rare moment of empathy when David Cameron had his bike stolen. Thankfully he had a tabloid newspaper to help him hunt it down and they found it for him.

Bristol named ‘Cycling City’

Bristol awarded £11.4 million and becomes the UK’s first ‘cycling city’ (BBC, Guardian, Times). Plans include improved cycle networks, factilities, and training/education. 11 other towns become ‘Cycling Demonstration Towns’. Read the press release here.

The Bristol Cycle Campaign barely seem to have noticed. The city council are obviously pleased.

‘Bike Menace’ David Cameron caught by the Mirror cycling the wrong way up a one way street. Nice ‘story‘. Also BBC, Google News. More level headed view from Cycling Weekly.

Investment in London Cycling

The Guardian reports on plans to transform cycling in London with £400 million to be spent on new routes to encourage people to get on their bikes. Apparently the scheme is based on a similar plan already underway in Aylesbury.

RIP Sheldon Brown

Sadly, internet cycling legend Sheldon Brown died recently. As reported in the Boston Globe, BikeMagic, Wired, VeloNews.

Wooden Bike
